Sock knitting pattern for a basic pair of knitted socks.
Basic pattern for adult socks worked in the round from the cuff down. The cuff is worked using twisted 1x1 rib.
The heel is shaped using increases and decreases. This method is known as the square heel (or Dutch/German band heel) and requires no heel flap or picking up of stitches. It's a great pattern for sock novices or those wanting to try a different style of heel.
This pattern is suitable for those who can work in the round using a small circumference. Sizes are for UK 4 to UK 12.
Bear in mind that if you like your sock leg to be longer than 18cm, you may need an additional ball of yarn!
You will need:
100g of 4ply sock yarn (400m per 100g) such as WYS signature 4ply.
4 Stitch markers
2.5mm circular (80cm cable for magic loop) or DPNs or size needed for gauge.
Gauge: 35 sts / 28 rows 10cm (4”)
This is an instant download and is printer friendly (2 sides of A4 landscape) for your convenience.
