october knit along.

Learn to knit socks for free in the Advent sockathon

Knit socks with two straight needles beginners. JOin our sockathon knit along this autumn. Easy beginner sock knitting pattern cuff down.

This year I'm running a make along like no other:

It's an advent sockathon.

You're going to knit a lot of socks- but wait, there's more!

The make along comprises of 4 different challenges.

The challenges are to:

1. Use up some of your stash yarn.

2. Learn to knit socks.

3. Make 24 mini socks.

4. Design an advent calendar using your socks.

Or challenge yourself to complete all 4 tasks!

This make-along has a prize at the end for those of you who want to complete a project and knit 24 socks by 30th November. Arrange your 24 socks as an advent calendar (be as creative as you want) and email the photo to me by 30th November and I will give you a free sock pattern! You can find the pattern here.

If you would prefer to knit your socks flat on 2 needles, I have a pattern for that here.

Easy sock knitting pattern free. Two needle socks. Straight knit sock PDF. Beginner sock knitting pattern

The winners will be announced on Friday 1st December 2023 and will be sent a free sock knitting pattern from my catalogue.

How do I participate?

Lucky for you, I am everywhere on the internet so no matter what platform you use, you'll be able to join in! You do not need to get in touch on every single platform- just join in on the platforms you already love and use. The information will be the same across all platforms so don't worry about missing anything.

Instagram/Threads participation:

Tag me in any of your posts so that I can see how you're doing and support you if necessary and of course, tag me in your finished photo of your advent calendar! You can find my instagram page here

Ravelry participation:

Log the sock pattern as a project and share your photos/ask your questions in the Ravelry group. We can talk colour combinations, tackle issues and support each other. Share as many photos as you want as it will help to inspire others. The group can be found here.

Twitter participation:

Use the hashtag #knittingtwitter and #sockathon and share your sockathon progress, ask me any questions and reach out to other knitters. Tag @germandercc for a retweet!

Youtube participation:

I'll be uploading tutorial videos to get you started with your socks. I'll also be checking in with progress videos and asking how you're doing. Please comment and subscribe if you haven't already and I'll be in touch! This is also a great way of asking for help if you need it.

Everyone is welcome.

I'm so excited about coming together for this lovely make along. I wanted to do something with other knitters that requires no spending as I know this has been a rough financial year for so many of us. I'm hoping that you'll be able to learn something new even if you've knit socks before. Every knitter is welcome. Tell your friends!
