Shell Stitch Cowl Crochet Pattern
The shell stitch cowl is a simple in the round crochet project using a combination of half double (half treble) crochet and shell stitch. To complete the shells you will need to know double crochet (treble) and single crochet (double). The cowl makes an excellent stash buster or an excuse to use a mini skein set!
All terms are US terms with UK terms in parenthesis.
125g of 4ply yarn. Either 5 mini skeins (25g each) or any assortment of scrap yarn. Can also be worked in one colour if preferred. When using several colours, change colour every shell row.
3.75mm crochet hook.
When finished, the cowl measures 10in tall (25cm) and 12in ( 30cm) wide when laid flat.
8 shells up and 4.5 shells across in a 4” (10cm) square.
In the sample I used Manos Del Uruguay Silk Blend Fino mini skeins. The set was called Josephine.
